CARE GUIDE

MATERIALS WE USE

STERLING SILVER

All of our products are made with hypoallergenic, nickel-free 925 sterling silver. We plate our silver jewelry in rhodium, to give it extra shine and durability.

GOLD PLATED

Our gold plated piece uses sterling silver as base metal, no brass is used! We plate a thick layer of real gold (1 to 2.5 microns) which is 10x-25x thicker than the standard plating thickness to give them long lasting color. We also apply an additional treatment to prevent tarnishing.

Gold vermeil refers to a gold plated jewelry with at least 10k gold and a minimum thickness of 2.5 microns.
On each product page, you will find a list of the materials used.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR JEWELRY

Put your jewelry on as a "finishing touch", HYMI pieces are a worthy investment, and a bit of extra care and love will help maximize its lifespan and preserve its shininess.

  • Avoid exposure to water, perfumes, alcohol or any other substances.
  • Remove your jewelry when bathing or swimming. Avoid contact with chlorine, sand and saltwater.
  • Do not wear them to do any exercises that will cause you to sweat a lot.
  • Take them off before sleep to avoid accidental damage.

WHERE TO STORE YOUR JEWELRY

Wipe your jewelry after each use with a soft cloth to remove any dirt or debris. It is best to store them in an airtight container like polyethylene bags in a clean, dry, and cool environment. Keep your jewelry away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight, and never store it in a humid environment. HYMI jewelry boxes are not airtight containers, they cannot guarantee items' perfect condition for a prolonged period.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR JEWELRY

Clean your gold plated jewelry with extra care, use a wet cloth or cotton ball and gently wipe the surface.

To clean your silver jewelry, soak it in lukewarm water with a few drops of soap, then use a toothbrush to clean the corners. In case your jewelry has darkened over time, silver-polishing cloth makes it shine again.

* HYMI cannot guarantee that our gold plated items will last forever due to the nature of gold plated, gold vermeil, and gold filled items being susceptible to losing color overtime. Color fade will vary greatly depending on factors such as use of chemical products on the skin, how much the wearer sweats, or even the pH level of the wearer's skin. Sterling silver and solid gold are the only options guaranteed to last forever. It is therefore extremely important to take suitable care of gold-plated jewelry.
